DESCRIPTION:Yurdal Tokcan is universally recognized as the foremost oud player in the world today. His command of the instrument on a technical level puts him in a class entirely of his own, but more importantly, his fluid and highly emotive improvisations (taksim), as well as his profoundly sensitive renderings of the complex and intricate compositions of the Turkish classical tradition reveal him to be a musician of great depth and subtlety.\nYurdal Tokcan will be accompanied by his son, the very promising Ozan Tokcan.\nThe concert will be introduced by Greek multi-instrumentalist, composer and oud virtuoso Ilias Markantonis.\nSince places are limited, subscribing early online is preferable.\nA four day oud masterclass for advanced students with Yurdal Tokcan and a two day seminar for beginners with Ozan Tokcan will take place at Seyir Muzik during the same weekend.
