Didar
Shahab Azinmehr: tar, setar, vocals,
Tristan Driessens: oud,
Farid Kheradmand: tombak, daire, vocals, arrangments.
A unique collaboration between three masterful musicians from Belgium and Iran, presenting original compositions alongside timeless pieces from the rich heritage of Persian and Ottoman classical music.
Didar is a Persian word meaning “encounter.” The music of Shahab Azinmehr, Tristan Driessens, and Farid Kheradmand draws on the classical and neoclassical music of Iran, the makam traditions of its neighbouring regions, and a touch of early European music. With a wide range of instruments including târ, setâr, oud, bendir, tombak, and dairé, Didar presents a program of ancient and original instrumental pieces and songs, including powerful vocal improvisations based on the vast treasury of Persian poetry.
