Ridvan Aydınlı

Rıdvan Aydınlı is a prominent Turkish ney player, vocalist, and musicologist specializing in Ottoman/Turkish classical music. He currently serves as a lecturer at Boğaziçi University and is a doctoral candidate at Istanbul University, where his research focuses on 18th-century Byzantine musical manuscripts.
Aydınlı’s academic journey includes an M.A. in ethno-musicology from Wesleyan University, focusing on rhythmic cycles (usul), and research at the New England Conservatory. He is deeply involved in digital humanities, having managed OMARSIV, a digital archiving project for Ottoman music sources.
As a performer, he is a key member of the Lâmekân Ensemble, contributing to acclaimed albums such as The Book of Lovers and Gülzâr-ı Vefâ. His vocal prowess earned him third place at the 2015 International Mugham Festival in Azerbaijan. Additionally, he hosted the TRT television programs Osmanlı’nın Kayıp Şarkıları and Osmanlı’nın Kayıp Besteleri, which reconstructed rare archival repertories for modern audiences.
