Ruven Ruppik is an acclaimed German percussionist, composer, and educator. Born in 1986 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, he began studying piano and drums at age eight. He quickly developed a deep affinity for global rhythms, expanding his mastery to specialized hand percussion instruments. These include the cajón, frame drum, riq, and marimba.

In 2004, Ruppik won Germany’s national Jugend Musiziert competition. He achieved the highest possible score in solo classical percussion. He pursued classical percussion studies at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. During this time, he participated in masterclasses with Karlheinz Stockhausen. He also performed under legendary conductors like Kurt Masur and Peter Eötvös.

Ruppik’s signature artistic style centers on the seamless interweaving of diverse musical traditions. His work bridges Western classical music with traditional global genres. His repertoire spans Flamenco, Ottoman, Mediterranean, Latin, and North Indian classical music. As a highly versatile collaborator, he has toured internationally across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He has shared stages with distinguished world artists. Notable collaborators include Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Paco Peña, Estrella Morente, and Kudsi Erguner.

In addition to his global touring and studio recording career, Ruppik is a dedicated educator. He leads rhythm workshops and international masterclasses. He teaches percussion as a faculty member at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in Switzerland.
