Annemie Osborne

Annemie Osborne began studying cello at the age of eight at the Conservatory of Luxembourg with Claude Giampellegrini. She then studied at the University of Leeds (UK) with Anna Shuttleworth and obtained a master’s degree in the class of Jeroen Reuling at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

At a young age, she developed a far-reaching fascination for diverse musical forms, including jazz, free improvisation, experimental music and world music, which would play a crucial role in her career. Annemie Osborne is in great demand as a cellist in numerous projects outside the classical music mainstream. These include playing with Overseas by jazz saxophonist Toine Thys, Klankennest, with Liesbeth Bodyn and the Armenian Arax (Vardan Hovanissian).

In 2008, Annemie Osborne took part in the formation of Oaktree, a trio exploring the possibilities of the unusual combination of voice, cello and accordion.
