Bijan Chemirani (* 1979 ) is a French percussionist of Iranian origin. He received his first zarb at the age of seven from his father Djamchid Chemirani. He then tried his hand at the kamantsche, the piano and the accordion, before finally returning to the zarb. He was tutored by his father and his older brother Keyvan Chemirani, with whom he has formed the Trio Chemirani since 1999 .

In 2001 he released his first album Gulistan, which, in addition to his father and brother, featured Ross Daly, Sokratis Sinopoulos, the composer Henri Agnel and the singer Manu Théron. In the following year, in collaboration with Pape N’Diaye, Loy Ehrlich, Peter Riuz, Levon Minassian, his sisters Mardanje Chemirani and Maryam Chemirani as well as Stelios Petrakis, his second album Eos, on which he also played saz in addition to zarb. In 2003 the third album Kismet followed and an appearance at the Strictly Mundial Festival in Marseille.

The following years included musicians such as Jean-Marc Padovani, Yom (clarinet), Patrick Vaillant (mandolin), Juan Carmona (flamenco guitar), Amina Alaoui, Annie Ebrel and Sam Karpienia (vocals), Serge Teyssot-Gay (guitar) and Sting to his partners. In 2007 he founded the group Oneira with his sister Maryam, Maria Simoglou, Harris Lambrakis, Kevin Seddiki and Pierlo Bertolino. Their first album Si La Mar was released in 2009, followed by Tâle Yâd in 2012 . He realized other projects a. a. with Sam Karpienia and Ulaş Özdemir. In 2013 he released the duo album Imaginarium with guitarist Kevin Seddiki. Together with cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, Sokratis Sinopoulos and his brother, the cross-over album Thrace: Sunday Morning Sessons was created in 2015 . He formed the quintet Resonance (Illuminations , 2019) with the counter-tenor Samuel Cattiau, the guitarist Quentin Dujardin, the violinist Léo Ullmann and the cellist Matthieu Saglio.
