Greek Folk choir of Brussels
Greece has a remarkably rich popular music tradition that is either still vivid in the villages all over the country or is studied via the folk music recordings and field searches of the past (for example, the 1930’s recordings of the displaced Asia Minor Greek refugees). The choir course will focus on repertoire from different regions of Greece and their musical idioms. We’ll emphasize on the folklore and historical elements associated with each song, like Christmas carols, wedding songs, songs of migration, etc. The songs will be approached
mainly monophonically, based on the Greek tradition. We will also study songs that come from polyphonic Greek traditions (Epirus, Drama, etc.).

The course will take place every Thursday from 19.00 to 20.30
The cost of the courses is 140€/semester; 70€ for students and artists under the “statut d’artist”. Payments on October and February.
