Sokratis Sinopoulos – Contemporary articulations in modal music

Sokratis Sinopoulos, through his long career in the field of modal music, has developed a personal musical language that uses as a starting point the modal musical traditions of Eastern Mediterranean, in combination with elements from European music, jazz and contemporary
improvised music. The seminar will present and explore these new ways of enriching the melodic and rhythmic material of the modal musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean, through free and rhythmic improvisation on selected compositions of contemporary modal music. The seminar is aimed at musicians with sufficient knowledge of a musical instrument (tempered or not tempered), of any musical tradition, as well as singers.
