Antonino Anastasia
Antonino learned the language and techniques of Southern Italian frame drums before beginning his formal training as a percussionist with Maestro Francesco Manna, who introduced him to the Mediterranean frame-drum tradition. In Rome, he met Maestro Mohsen Kassirosafar and studied Iranian tombak with him. He has completed a master in classical percussion at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples and continues his tombak studies with Maestro Pedram Khavarzamini. As a founding member of Ars Nova Napoli, he has performed at numerous international music and showcase festivals, including the RIFF Festival (Jodhpur, India), China CHIC Festival (China), Seoul Music Week (Korea), Mosul Traditional Festival (Iraq), Festival Dieta Mediterranea (Portugal), and Fira B! (Spain).
With the ensemble Ai vis lo lo lop, he has participated in major medieval and Baroque music festivals in Italy, such as Roma Barocco Festival, Alessandro Stradella Festival, Leonardo Leo Festival, and I Suoni della Murgia. He also collaborates regularly with various musicians and ensembles in Naples.
