Savaş Özkök

Savaş Özkök (b. 1980, Gaziantep, Turkey) began his musical training in 1988, studying the qanun with his father. He completed his undergraduate studies at the ITU State Conservatory (1998–2002) and earned his master’s degree from Haliç (Golden Horn) University (2003–2005). In 2003, he joined the Bursa State Choir as a qanun player and began performing internationally with the Burhan Öçal Oriental Ensemble. He later toured internationally with the Konya Whirling Dervishes (2004–2007) and with Omar Faruk Tekbilek (2007–2010). Since 2005, he has presented his own concerts in France under Turquoize Production and recorded the album Groove à la Turca with the Zurich Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Howard Griffitti. He continues an active international performing career.
