Fahrettin Yarkın – Turkish ûsul seminar
TEACHER’S BIOGRAPHY
Fahrettin Yarkın was born in 1960 in Istanbul. He studied at Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory. In 1981, he got accepted at the Orchestra of the State Radio in Turkey as a percussion performer. He has participated s a percussionist in concerts, seminars & recordings not only in Turkey, but also in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, U.S.A., Japan, China & many Arab countries. He has managed to obtain students almost all around Europe.
In 1994 he established the Yarkin Turk Rhythm Group with Ferruh Yarkin. Together, they released 4 albums: Ten (1999), Ten’tende (2001), Caravanserai (2002) & Hayy (2008).
Fahrettin Yarkın wrote the book entitled Usuls in Turkish Music. He has been working with Jordi Savall, Kutsi Erguner, Andre Rieu & many other significant artists.
SEMINAR DETAILS
The seminar will focus on: the understanding of usûls, their use in the area of Anatolia the learning of techniques on the performance of instruments according to the level of the participants.
The goal is to start learning first the main usûls, which although they are less than 16/8, they are also prominent, time-consuming and difficult to learn. It would not be appropriate to proceed and to go beyond the 16-time usûls without learning them.
